Sailor for Hire.com- About the Sailor I've been living in Calvert County Maryland for about 20 years and within those years I've put thousands of sea miles under my belt. I live in Chesapeake Beach, which is to me a convenient place with great access to both the northern and southern parts of the Bay. ![]() Owner of a 1960 32' Dickerson Ketch, which is docked in Flag Harbor (great place). Before the Dickerson, I lived aboard a John Alden for about 10 years. She took me from Nova Scotia to the Caribbean and lots of hidden places in between. After living aboard and owning wooden boats for over 18 years, one tends to learn the fine details of maintaining and sailing. I've taken a few classes at the Wooden Boat School in Brooklyn Maine. Mostly refurbishing and sail making. First mate of a private 55ft wooden trawler for 2.5 years, which took me to Savannah, GA and points south twice a year. So I'm very familiar with the do's and dont's of the Intercoastal Waterway. I also have had the opportunity to sail some very nice fiberglass boats through the Intercoastal. Including a Shannon, Hinckley and Bristols. Worked the Fantail of a lobster boat in Maine for awhile. I learned about fogs and "where not the rocks are" (Maine talk)
I've also worked off and on with a couple of boat builders here in Maryland. Wood, Fiberglass, Aluminum
and Steel and I'm just in awe of the craftsman that work in this area.
USCG certified, liceased and insured. I've racked up thousands of sea miles and awaiting for every opportunity to add some more! I'm not musically inclined but I've done almost everything Jimmy Buffet sings about in his songs. Now in 2005, I find myself sailing the rainbow, humming the tune "A pirate looks at 40". |
