Sail Season 2005 - Sheet in, Fall off. I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful year. I'm starting to see past clients on the water.
Good job mates! The hardest part of this past sailing season was convincing my clients to let go of the mooring line. One must remember, the pilings will be there when you get back. I was on quite a few trips with new owners and new vessels on their maiden voyage. Moving boats to new homes after leaving the brokerage firms. I do believe that it builds confidence to move
your new vessel a day or two after the purchase. Or at least until the new owner jitters wear off.
Sailing off of the East Coast with a man from Scotland, one starts to learn how the other countries look at the United States. Ere' wright Jimmie! It was my best trip in 2005. A fantastic seven days from Deale, MD to Charleston, SC.
In 2005 I found myself running up and down the South River (there is no need to travel that waterway on a weekend or a summer holiday!...Man its crowded!). During the summer I filled in over at South River Boat Rentals. I recommended
them to a few clients that were interested in learning to sail but did not have a vessel of their own. All went very well. The guys over at South River Boats are top notch.
While working as a charter boat captain I learned rather quickly that the more fun the client has the more tip the captain makes! I being a people person, have fun down pat. But introducing people to the world of sailing is the real reward.
I think I had my 15 minutes of fame last year. The Annapolis Capital "South County Gazette" wrote an article about Sailor for Hire and NBC hired me for a new reality TV show... to air very soon. Watch for the Emmy.. ha! ha!. A special thanks all my clients in 2005. Have fun on your vessels and remember be safe, have fun and keep in Contact.
