Sailor for Hire.com - 2002 Sailing Season This is officially the fourth year
Sailor for Hire has been doing what I love doing......., Instructional Sail! My first trip this year brought me down the length of the Potomac River and half back up the Bay. What a way to start the season. Oh, and the boat was a beautiful 35' Chaylee Lion.
Next I found myself in new water.....the northern Chesapeake. I recall anchoring on the Sassafras 13 years ago, the weather was calm and the shores were noisy with geese. Today the weather is calm and the water is noisy with a lot of powerboats. The population boom is real evident here and in the Middle, Patapsaco and Magothy Rivers. These northern waters are very beautiful but, busy. I had the pleasure of sailing the Lostknot for six days with a Canadian sailor. The trip was wonderful. Hudson Creek, Oxford, Dunn Creek are some highly recommended anchorages. In the client's words "The trip was so much more than one could expect" and I'll have to admit the sailing, scenery and synergy was rewarding. Three of my clients needed Phase II of Sailor for Hire this season and let me tell you ....sailing with intermediate sailors is quite enjoyable. I found myself in Hampton Roads a couple of times. Also in the southern parts of the James and Rapahanoke. The 2-4-6 rule applies a lot here in this part of the Bay. So far this season there have been 23 day trips on 12 different vessels. Of course the season is far from over and I'm always looking for new opportunities. Please do not hesitate to Contact Me if you have any questions. Well, tomorrow I'm off to Chrisfield to start a 2 day instructional sail to Deale.
The weather forecast looks promising and the cool summer evening hints of another rewarding adventure. Click here for the 2003 log. |
